Objectifs: 1- Enable participants to choose and apply appropriate tools for managing themselves, other people, and organisations involved in humanitarian and development programmes. 2- Enable participants to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of humanitarian programme management and apply appropriate tools for managing humanitarian and development programmes. 3- Provide participants.
Destinataires: A fluent English speaker (all the training will be in English). AND. Already working in an NGO and looking to further your professionalism via a recognised qualification. OR. Thinking about working full-time for an NGO and have sufficient professional experience in other areas to aim for a diploma at this level. OR. Wondering whether the addition of some training to your already considerable experience would make it worth your while to participate in some of the modules, but perhaps not all of them.

Le programme

Training objectives :
1- Enable participants to choose and apply appropriate tools for managing themselves, other people, and organisations involved in humanitarian and development programmes.
2- Enable participants to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of humanitarian programme management and apply appropriate tools for managing humanitarian and development programmes.
3- Provide participants with the practical skills and confidence required to manage the financial aspects of humanitarian programmes to maximise their efficiency, effectiveness and accountability.
4- Provide an interdisciplinary forum in which participants from a variety of professional backgrounds, for example health, political and social sciences, engineering, agriculture, development, international humanitarian law, human rights, administration, and media, will critically review and debate key issues of mutual interest.
The programme will investigate current approaches to humanitarian programme management and identify and develop models of good practice.
In addition, the programme offers participants an opportunity to develop and undertake a research project in an area of special interest indicated by client NGOs, IOs or National Ministries. The research project will usually be located overseas in collaboration with the client organisation.

Admission criteria
* Fluent English
* Minimum age is 23 years old
* Some higher level education qualification is required
* Minimum two years' experience, some of which must be at a managerial level, in the humanitarian field
* However, participants will be considered for admission if they have relevant field experience and either a diploma from Bioforce in France or a Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance* from LSTM
* All admissions will be processed by LSTM admissions department

Training programme
The objective is to provide appropriate training for Humanitarian Programme Managers (see generic job description) at the level of a Masters degree awarded by the University of Liverpool.
The programme will be run jointly by Bioforce, The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and Mango (Management Accounting for NGO's)

In total, there are six modules :
- Managing Programmes and Projects : 30 ECTS** Credits, 6 weeks, Bioforce
- Managing People and Organisations : 30 ECTS** Credits, 6 weeks, Bioforce
- Research Methods : 15 ECTS** Credits, 3 weeks, Liverpool
- Financial Management [run by MANGO] : 30 ECTS** Credits, 6 weeks, Liverpool
- Either - Managing epidemiological data Or - Media, Aid and Humanitarian Action : 15 ECTS** Credits, 3 weeks, Liverpool
- Research Project : 60 ECTS** Credits, 12 weeks, In the field
