The Advocacy programme is designed to give participants an understanding of the complex policy dynamics of the international arena and the analytical tools, communication theories and leadership skills needed to execute successful advocacy programmes. Participants leave with the expertise, confidence and capacity to influence the international agenda across multiple constituencies and stakeholders – and to drive change that meets their organisational objectives.

Advocacy in International Affairs can add value to professionals at various stages in their career, with relevance for anyone who aspires to higher leadership roles that require strong expertise in advocacy in the public or private sector.

The Executive Certificate – Advocacy in International Affairs is designed as a multi-stakeholder, peer-to-peer learning experience that invites diverse participation from non-governmental and international organisations, international companies, unions and associations, national government agencies and diplomatic missions. It targets any professional who currently works – or those who aspire to work – in advocacy in a global context. It can especially benefit those with legal, communications, public-sector and non-profit leadership backgrounds, as well as those in private companies, including those who oversee communications, public affairs or sustainability initiatives.

Upon completion of the programme, successful participants will receive an Executive Certificate – Advocacy in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute (15 ECTS).

Villa Barton, the Institute’s primary Executive Education centre, is located in the United Nations district of the city, in a scenic park on the shores of Lake Geneva, next to the World Trade Organization.
