PROGRAMME CONTENT
MODULE 1 – Global Environmental Governance
This module provides a 360o view of global environmental governance, its evolution and main challenges, the key organisations and stakeholders involved, and the most important regulatory frameworks. It encompasses the last 50 years of environmental negotiations, from Stockholm 1972 to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
A transversal module will be launched during Module 1
(see description, right column).

MODULE 2 – Food Security
Food security lies at the heart of the complex dynamics between population growth, agricultural productivity, the protection and uses of biodiversity, and intellectual property rights. This module identifies the main problems ahead and examines the complex regulatory structures existing at the national and international levels, providing participants with knowledge tools to act at an organisational level.

MODULE 3 – Water
The governance of limited freshwater resources faces daunting challenges, ranging from the increased pressure placed by the world’s growing population to the competing uses of waterbodies for agriculture, energy generation, industrial uses and human needs. This module takes a holistic approach to water governance and unveils the multiple impacts on organisations.

MODULE 4 – Energy
Our way of life is entirely based on energy generation. Driven by environmental challenges and geopolitical forces, the energy foundations of our societies are undergoing a major transition from a fossil fuel-based model to one characterised by decarbonisation, efficiency and the diversification of energy sources. The energy module equips participants to navigate the energy transition.

MODULE 5 – Climate change
The vast and complex sets of information on climate change that must be grasped to understand this multifaceted phenomenon pose significant barriers to those seeking to acquire a global view. This module brings together scientists, policy-makers and influential thinkers to provide a concise and rigorous examination of climate change and its implications for public and private organisations.

TRANSVERSAL MODULE
Strategic Thinking and Leadership in Policy Planning

This module will integrate the programme experiences. It is structured around a simulation in which participants have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in other modules to a real-life process of strategic analysis, leading to policy decisions.
