Le programme

Mechanical engineering is the broadest field of endeavor in engineering. Mechanical engineers creatively apply the principles of mathematics and science to solve real-world problems. They are heavily involved in Computer Aided Design, Manufacturing, Process Control and Robotics. Mechanical engineers apply their knowledge to diverse fields such as agricultural equipment, biomedical engineering, consumer products, environmental pollution control, materials and manufacturing processes, power generation and distribution, robotics, and transportation.
A mechanical engineer may work in the design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, operation, quality control, sales, and management of products. Further opportunities exist in the research and development of new technologies. In addition to mechanically oriented industries, mechanical engineers are employed in aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, computer and electrical industries. The design and development of user-friendly products, energy efficient and smart devices, effective structures using smart materials, and advanced medical devices are some of the future challenges of the mechanical engineer. Our mechanical engineering program prepares you to be a part of this future.

The Major
Our Bachelor of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering provides you with a strong
foundation of coursework in engineering graphics, engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of solids, material science, thermal science, vibrations, controls, mechatronics, and design.
Modern laboratory facilities emphasize measurement techniques and experimental methods that allow you to verify the theory learned in the classroom. As engineers design and create, you will learn this process early in your sophomore year in the Introduction to Design and Manufacturing course. This course focuses on the significance of design decisions on products, machines, and society as well. In addition, the practice of design skills has been carefully integrated into most of the engineering courses.
A design experience culminates with a sequence of two capstone design courses during your senior year. In these courses, you will work closely with faculty and industry to produce a unique design solution.
The Mechanical Engineering curriculum is professionally accredited by the Engineering
Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC of ABET).

The Mechanical Engineering academic curriculum is completely integrated with that of the St.Louis campus in Missouri. The students can transfer freely between the two campuses over the course of their undergraduate degree program. A student who enrolls in a bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering program in Madrid will normally spend the first two years in Madrid and then transfer directly to the St.Louis campus to finish the final two years of the degree program. However, students can transfer the academic credits they earn while studying in Madrid to other U.S. universities should they so wish.

Mechanical Engineering academic courses are offered in English at Saint Louis Madrid campus. Spanish and international students can enroll in the intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program during their first year of study.

Special attributes of this progam
The engineering courses are taught by an exceptionally qualified team of dedicated faculty who make the education at Saint Louis-Madrid campus and Parks College of Engineering and Aviation in Missouri challenging, yet enjoyable.

The curriculum is designed so that the classroom education is complemented with laboratory "hands-on" experience. Microcomputers are used to introduce students to computer graphics and computer-aided design (CAD). Students use Pro-Engineer in learning CAD. Numerically controlled machines in the manufacturing process laboratory train students in CAM.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the agency for accreditation of engineering curricula in the U.S.

Our Program in Madrid includes lectures and talks by leaders in the aerospace/mechanical industry and field trips to industrial sites.
