Le programme
Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus offers a unique setting for students to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish.
Students can study all four years of the degree program in Madrid, in an atmosphere of total immersion in the language, culture and literature.
The Spanish Department faculty hold degrees from leading European and American universities, and provide a wealth of knowledge and research across a diverse range of literary movements in Spain and Latin America, as well as in applied linguistics.
From the very first day of classes, courses are taught in Spanish. Academic trips to places throughout Spain are incorporated into the curriculum of various classes to enhance the classroom experience and to take advantage of being in the culturally-rich country of Spain.
Students also have the possibility of taking their core requirements for the degree in Spanish, such as Psychology, History and Theology.
The Madrid Campus offers students in the Spanish degree program the chance to experience first-hand Spanish life and culture, while taking advantage of the benefits and opportunities that come with an education and degree from the American university system.
Activities planned by both the Spanish Department and the Office of Student Life provide students an opportunity to become integrated into Spanish society.
For instance, events and conferences are hosted on campus with guest authors who present their literary works, critics and literary experts who comment on current social movements, and journalists and government representatives who participate in panel discussions to address, for example, the socio-political trends in Spain.
