This degree provides an analysis of the experiences of childhood and youth. It uses the subject disciplines of sociology, psychology and history to explore childhood, and will provide you with opportunities to specialise in your chosen areas. If you are passionate about social change and want to be part of creating a better future for the next generation, this degree gives you the opportunity to study social enterprise. Here you will explore setting up your own social enterprise to help solve some of the challenges young people face, with the ultimate goal of graduating with an established enterprise and full-time employment. Outcomes During your time with us, you will gain an awareness of the rights of children and young people, with reference to their role and status in society. You will develop essential skills in recognising how the experiences of childhood and youth are shaped by class, race, gender, disability, sexuality, religion, poverty, region and nationality. Employment This degree will open doors to many employment opportunities. It is particularly fitting for those looking to progress into youth and community, psychology, social enterprise, the third sector and even local government positions. Alternatively, it also provides a sound preparation for postgraduate courses in primary or early years teaching, social work, children's nursing and play therapy, as well as further academic study to MA or PhD level. Location Located at the university's prestigious Greenwich Campus, the Childhood and Youth Studies programme has world-renowned attractions right on its doorstep from the Cutty Sark to Greenwich Park. With the opening of the highly anticipated Dreadnought Building on the horizon, not only will you study in the heart of the Greenwich Campus, but you will also have access to state-of-the-art learning, teaching and social spaces.
